History
In 2004 Academy got Regional status and started to work on establishment of local academies in universities and intitutes of Azerbaijan and abroad. Academy started to run training courses for prospective instructors of future Local Academies. In 2004 Cisco Networking Academy at Open Society Institute was awarded as Academy of the Year among CIS Coutries.
Being a Regional Academy AzNET was promoting the Cisco Networking Academies Program in Azerbaijan and by 2007 has opened 14 local academies in universities and institutes of Azerbaijan, as well as helped in startup of local academies in Georgia, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan.
In August 2007 AzNET Academy has received brand new equipment laboratory bundles for CCNA, CCNP, Network Security, IP Telephony and Fundamentals of Wireless LANs courses as a donation from NATO. In addition AzNET Academy owns NetLab - remote virtual laboratories solution from NetDev Group.
AzNET Academy is the first and most experienced networking academy in Azerbaijan. We focus on preparation of real networkers with real skills and knowledge. We understand that each networker we prepare will become one of the architects of the networked economy; enabling everyday experiences on the global human network. Academy was established in 2000 by Information Program of Open Society Institute - Assistance Foundation Azerbaijan (Soros Foundation). Initially academy had Local status and delivered only CCNA courses. But after June 2003, when academy instructors took training at Cisco Authorized Training Center at Romanian State Technological University, so called Sponsored Curriculum (IT Essentials I & II and Unix Fundamentals courses) were added.
Since May 2004 Academy moved to AzNET Project - common project of Soros Foundation, United Nations Development Programme, Ministry of Communications and IT and AzRENA, thus changing its name to AzNET Academy.
