Use your Packet Tracer skills to build a smart home network — add, configure, and monitor IoT devices, explore environmental controls, and even create your own custom IoT Thing from scratch.
In today’s digital world, more and more devices are connecting to the network than ever before — a smart home, city, or grid can have hundreds of Internet of Things (IoT) devices. This course uses Cisco Packet Tracer to bring that world to life. You will learn how to add IoT devices to a home network and connect, configure, and monitor them through a Home Gateway. You will explore what IoT devices are, what they can do, and how they are programmed. You will also work with environmental controls to simulate real-world sensor responses, and create your own custom IoT Thing to use in your smart home network. No physical hardware is required.

Skills You Will Learn
Identify IoT devices available in Cisco Packet Tracer and understand their capabilities and programming. Add wired and wireless IoT devices to a home network and connect them through a Home Gateway. Configure and register IoT devices to a Home Gateway or Registration Server. Monitor and control smart home devices remotely through a web interface. Explore Packet Tracer’s environmental simulation controls to understand how IoT sensors detect and respond to real-world conditions such as temperature, smoke, and humidity. Create a custom IoT Thing from scratch including design, connectivity, and programmed behaviour. Use and test your custom IoT Thing within a smart home network.
